Arlu is the beautiful second born of one of our Director/Founders.
At their 37 week check-up, the gynae noticed baby Arlu had an enlarged ventricle.
Arlu came into the world on the 23rd of July 2024 and whilst is Mom and Dad were delighted to see his face, Dr’s rushed him away after their brief meeting as he needed an urgent MRI and thereafter was placed into the NICU nursery.
The MRI confirmed Arlu had bleeding on the brain taking up space of 11cm x 4cm.
With more questions than answers Arlu was monitored and referred to a neurosurgeon who then explained that Arlu needed a VP shunt placed in his brain as he had diagnosing Arlu with Hydrocephalus (a condition where cerebrospinal fluid builds up in the brain’s ventricles, causing increased pressure inside the skull).
Arlu underwent surgery at 1 week and 2 days old. The VP shunt is now his lifeline and something he will live with forever.
At 3 months old, Arlu attended a routine check-up whereby it was noticed that he wasn’t achieving his visual milestones as he lacks following items, making direct eye contact and his eyes are jumpy.
After another MRI, it was confirmed that Arlu has Optic Atrophy (a serious condition that occurs when the optic nerve’s nerve fibers die, resulting in vision loss).
Arlu’s parents didn’t accept knowing that their son cannot and will not see, so their journey at finding a treatment for Arlu to gain as much vision as possible began which brought them to discovering the Federov Restore Vision Clinic in Germany, Berlin.
Arlu has been approved and is a candidate for this treatment after an extensive evaluation process. We please ask you to open your hearts and help us raise the funds for our baby to get the treatment in Berlin and give him an opportunity to live a normal life with sight.

This treatment increases the functionality of preserved cells (neurons) on the retina, and improves conductivity along the optic pathway to the brain.
Combining stimulation with brain training enhances the overall activity of the visual system, and leads to functional restoration.
